Common Polymarket issues

  • Wallet won't fund or withdraw

    Polymarket funding goes through Polygon. Bridge congestion, missing MATIC for gas, or a paused fiat on-ramp partner can all stall deposits while the CLOB itself is fine.

  • Orders not filling on a hot market

    Spreads widen dramatically around live events. Use limit orders inside the visible spread instead of market orders when the book is thin.

  • Site loads but trading is greyed out

    Usually a geofence trip — a VPN or non-US-permitted region was detected. Polymarket blocks US-based users from trading by policy.

Background

Polymarket was founded by Shayne Coplan in 2020 and rose to mainstream attention during the 2024 US election cycle, where its odds were quoted by major news outlets. The platform settled tens of billions of dollars of notional volume on the election alone and remains the largest non-US prediction market by volume.
