Kalshi keeps your trading records in three places: a Documents page with yearly profit-and-loss totals, a Tax Info page with your P&L statement and any 1099 forms, and a Your activity page with CSV exports of individual orders, trades, settlements, deposits, withdrawals, and credits. This guide shows where each one lives, what the totals include and exclude, and how to pull a complete set of records for a tax year. It is about organizing records, not tax advice.

What Kalshi's PnL totals include, and what they leave out
Per Kalshi's Trading History help page, PnL includes returns from closed portions of positions plus applied credits or rebates. "PnL with fees" subtracts opening and closing trading fees; "PnL without fees" excludes them. The totals exclude deposits, withdrawals, and changes in the value of positions that are still open.
Three practical consequences:
- Open positions are invisible in the totals. If you hold contracts at year-end, the PnL figures do not reflect any change in their value. Keep your own note of open positions alongside the statement.
- The numbers lag. Per Kalshi's tax documentation page, PnL data updates on the first morning of each month. A mid-month check will not reflect the most recent trading. Pull records for a tax year after the January update that closes it.
- Kalshi computes profits and losses with the FIFO (first-in, first-out) accounting method, per its tax documentation page.
The 1099 forms Kalshi may send, and what each one contains
Per Kalshi's help center (updated June 22, 2026), members who cross IRS reporting thresholds can receive up to four forms:
- 1099-INT: interest payments from Kalshi
- 1099-MISC: credits and rewards from Kalshi
- 1099-B: transaction proceeds from broker transactions (crypto transfers)
- 1099-DA: digital asset transaction reporting from ZeroHash
Forms arrive in the Tax Info page under Account, and some are delivered by email from Zenwork, Kalshi's tax form provider, so check spam and junk folders for a secure download link. If no 1099 forms appear in your account, Kalshi says it is likely because you did not meet the IRS thresholds for issuance.
Note what this list does not include: none of the four forms is described by Kalshi as reporting your event-contract trading profit or loss. The P&L statement is the tool Kalshi provides for that, which is why pulling and totaling your own records matters.
Step by step: pull a complete set of records for a tax year
- Sign in to Kalshi on a browser. On a phone, open kalshi.com in a mobile browser rather than relying on the app view.
- Open Documents. Review the yearly PnL table, with and without fees, and the totals across years.
- For the year you need, click the download icon in the Transactions column. Save the ZIP and open the CSV in a spreadsheet.
- Open Your activity. For each category you used (orders, trades, settlements, deposits, withdrawals, credits), set the date range to the full tax year and export the CSV.
- Open Account, then Tax Info. Select the year and download your P&L statement. Save any 1099 forms shown there.
- Check your email (including spam) for a Zenwork message with a secure link to any electronically delivered forms.
- Store everything for the year in one folder: P&L statement, transactions CSV, activity CSVs, forms, and a note listing any positions still open at year-end.

Common questions
- Does Kalshi send a 1099?
- Kalshi sends up to four 1099 forms (INT, MISC, B, and DA) to members above IRS reporting thresholds. If none appear in your account, Kalshi says you likely did not meet the thresholds.
- Where is my Kalshi P&L statement?
- Sign in, go to Account, select Tax Info, pick the year, and download the statement.
- Does the P&L include open positions?
- No. Per Kalshi, the totals cover returns from closed portions of positions and exclude changes in the value of open positions.
- Why is my total different from what I traded this month?
- PnL data updates on the first morning of each month, so mid-month figures can lag your recent activity.
- What accounting method does Kalshi use for PnL?
- FIFO (first-in, first-out), per Kalshi's tax documentation page.
